A retired U.S. Naval Officer with over 25 years of military service, Dr. Henderson-Shaw is an educator, author, inspirational speaker, and domestic abuse survivor turned advocate. She is the first African-American woman to serve as Senior Naval Science Instructor (SNSI) at Bloom Township High School in Chicago Heights, Illinois, where her NJROTC unit has earned National Distinguished Unit honors under her leadership.
Dr. Henderson-Shaw is also a STEM facilitator, founder of The Bloom “Pedal” Pushers, an all-girl NJROTC virtual racing team of Black and Brown girls and an international best-selling author. Her work spans education, youth leadership, faith-based advocacy, and women’s empowerment.
